Here is the skirt I made for myself for my birthday. It's a double circle instead of a single circle like I normally make. It has 4 panels each of which are a half circle, making for a very very full skirt (and a never ending hem! I watched nearly a whole movie while hemming the thing...2 hours? or something like that).
Ever since I was little I always wanted one of those spanish dancer's skirts that they could lift up above their heads and still have it touching the ground, not that I really liked the bright colours those usually seem to come in. So now at long last I have made my own version with silky dark green fabric that is quite light so surprisingly it doesn't feel any heavier than my skirts normally do.
I misscalculated the seam allowance and had to take it apart and remake it, and it was still too big, so I gathered the little extra into the back and I think that looks rather nice, though you can't really see it here very well. It's quite lovely for twirling!
here it is layed out on the floor - and yes there are two layers there.
