Making a Frame Action

Description

I recently learned a very usefull tactic to make adding frames much quicker. Typing in the new size gets really tidious if you are adding them to a lot of pictures at once, so here's a little tip!

Make a Framing action in Photoshop and then all you'll have to do is click on it to add a frame, rather than typeing the same thing in each time. The catch is that the action you make will only work for images which are the exact same size as the one you created the action with. Thus you've got to make at least two of these, one for the tall "portrait" picutres, and one for the wide "landscape" pictures.

Click download to view the full sized immage in case you can't tell what's going on the pictures.

In Photoshop
1. Check to make sure the backgrownd colour is black (or whatever colour you want it to be) and then click on the Actions Tab - it should be located next to the History Tab
2. Click the little arrow button to the right of the Actions title and a menue will come up - select "New Action"
3. Name your action and click "Record"
4. Now select Canvas Size from the Image Menue
5. A window will pop up showing you the current size of your image.
6. Type in a new image size - I usually add 2 inches. Depending on the size of your image the ammount you add will look different proportionally, so you will have to try things out and adjust it till it looks good to you.
7. Click OK and your image has a Frame!
8. Go back to the Actions arrow menue and select "Stop Recording." This saves your action and you will find it listed in the Actions Tab.
To re-use this action simply double click on it in the Actions Tab and it will bring up the Canvas Size window with the new size already filled out. All you have to do is click OK :D

I hope this is helpfull :aww:
